| Scalping is the most visible problem for rigid decks. If they
mow over a mound, they don’t flex, and the grass is cut long at
the outside of the deck and scalped in the middle. Articulating
decks flex to give the same quality cut as three small push
mowers…over any contour to eliminate scalping. |

All rigid decks miss grass when cutting through a valley. That

| If you have raised turf around a tree, a rigid deck will leave a
visible ring caused by the outside of the deck gouging into the
ground. Lastec’s articulating decks will maintain an even cut
around the base of a tree or raised planting bed because the
decks flex to accurately follow the contours of the ground. |

If a rigid deck cuts in a line parallel to a ditch, valley, or hillside,
the outside of the deck will gouge into the hill and leave

| Mowers with rigid decks experience wheel lift in contoured terrain.
That causes the deck to lift and miss grass. The single front wheel
of Lastec mowers form a three point stance with the drive wheels
so that no wheel lifts off the ground in uneven terrain. The deck
gauge wheels follow the contour of any ground. |

A rigid deck will always dip when turned…especially if turned in
contoured ground. This is caused by dipping of the outer edge
of a rigid deck that extends beyond the front gauge wheels.
